Since early 2007 Matthew has produced over 3,500 domestic EPCs. In 2010 Matthew joined with Gloucestershire based charity Severn Wye Energy Agency, helping businesses, schools, community buildings and households in Gloucestershire identify how they can reduce their energy consumption and generate income through renewables.

The company is owned and run by Matthew Williams who has been involved in producing energy performance certificates since early 2007 and has produced over 3,000 domestic EPCs. Since early 2010 Matthew spends up to half his time working for Gloucestershire based charity Severn Wye Energy Agency, helping businesses in Gloucestershire identify how they can reduce their energy consumption and generate income through renewables.

Domestic EPCs.

The survey for a domestic EPC will take 30 - 45 minutes at the average property and involves measuring the volume of the building, working out the heat loss areas, looking up in the loft to see insulation levels (if there is access) and looking at the heating and hot water system plus controls and any secondary heating that may be at the property. Usually the report is written up and sent out within 12 hours of the survey.

The EPC is basically a miles per gallon rating on a property and is valid for 10 years. It also shows how it is possible to improve the energy efficiency of the property. The property is rated out of 100 (or A to G). The average for the country is thought to be 60 (or a D rating). A property built to today's standards would score in the low 80's (or B rating).

A quick way to gain a couple of extra points on your rating is to ensure that all the fixed lighting has energy efficient lamps fitted.
